The weather has been, how should I say, less than favorable? So I took to the clubhouse this week to stay on pace.
Monday I cranked up the incline and did 2.5 miles at 5mph. It wasn't too incredibly strenuous, so I follow that up with a nice lower body workout. My quads enjoyed the work. They actually thanked me later. No seriously, they cooked me dinner and everything.
Tuesday I was feeling a 2aday, but my legs were not. I did a speed workout in the late morning while watching some ESPN podcasts and left myself the opportunity to do it later in the evening... alas I didn't pick up the option later on- night class got in the way. But I did get the speed workout in (1500 meters, 9.25 mph, slight incline too), so the day wasn't exactly a loss.
Wednesday I did actually get the 2aday in. I grabbed four and a half miles on the treadmill in the morning, and did another two and a quarter before bed. I wouldn't encourage to run right before bed because it can play with your diet, your sleep, and your heart, but I was feeling reckless. What can I say, I'm a maverick.
This weekend is the final run and I'm feeling pretty good. Ethan, Chad, and Jordan are all on board to run up to SNP with me, so all systems are go three days from now. Tomorrow is my regular day off, and I'll probably go really easy on Friday. Keep it simple on days before races, people. You don't want to totally slack off and risk your muscles getting lazy on you, but you don't wanna hamper yourself either. I plan on running a quick 1.5 miles at a standard 7ish mph pace and call it a day.

Weekend Recap, April 13-15
We threw a big party on Friday, so I didn't quite get my workout in there. Make it two straight days off! Still, with all the work I was putting in doing party prep, plus multiple papers due at the end of the week, I can hardly say I was slacking off.
Saturday I was hungover, tired, and generally angry because of a girl fight from the previous night's party. So naturally I was going to need some help getting things moving. I popped over to Sheetz and grabbed my magical hangover cure- 4 hash browns and a big bottle of Voss Water, straight from Norway. I downed some Tylenol after that and I was good to go. Still, I didn't wanna push it even after the extended midweek break, so I did a quick two miler around the Valley Mall and back. Later in the night I did a short Quad workout just to make sure my legs were getting enough stress.
Today was a different story. I hadn't had a real good workout for about a week, so I decided to make it a 2aday. I hit the treadmill for 3.5 in the morning, did some Tri dips to cool down, and got back to Ruby Version (it was my week off from schoolwork and journalism alike). Later that night, I took a night jog up to the quad and back. Neff-->Reservoir-->Cantrell-->S. Main-->Port-->Neff. It was a long run, but much needed. Since I had to push back the final run, I might as well make sure I'm earning that extra time.

Midweek Recap, April 9-11
I woke up feeling fantastic Monday- I honestly have no idea why- so I just decided to go 2aday. Before even jumping in the shower, I ran outside in my shorts that I slept in and just went to down. I wanted to do some vertical training, so I ran splits up and down the hills on Neff. I probably looked weird as Hell, but nobody is out at 6:30 in the morning except ambitious college students, so I don't really care.
After showering, class, etc, I had a meeting at Anthony-Seeger for the Breeze. Why drive when I can run? I dragged myself up to South Main street, only to find that there was actually no meeting at all! Thanks a lot Easter. (just kidding, Jesus, I still love you.) So I ran back and cooked myself Mac&Talap. Yes, it's a personal invention, and no, I won't tell you how to make it. It is ususally reserved for second dates, so that's not information I'm likely to give up.
Tuesday? Let's just say I wasn't feeling as great as Monday. The 2aday hit me harder than I thought it might, so I settled for a quick jog through the Arboretum to my 6:00 class at Godwin and back and called it a day. Oh yeah. This was DEFINITELY a spaghetti day.
Today I felt more or less back to normal, but I wanted to pair my run with a more intense workout, so I did three miles on the treadmill before doing my go-to tris, bis, and abs workout. I cooled down with an easy mile on the eliptical and chucked my twos up. Chase reps two up, two down- that's VA for all you non-Chris Brown listeners.

Taking Advantage of the Weather
I've been running on the treadmill all weekend- nothing major, starting myself off with daily 1600's like I used to run when I ran track- but the weather as so nice today that I thought I'd run back from class. I was carrying a synchsack that might adequately simulate the weight of a twenty-miler.
I started at Anthony-Seeger and ran all the way to Sunchase, cutting through Duke Dog Tunnel, running up the north side of Convo, along University, and finally through the Arboretum. If you aren't familiar with the JMU/Harrisonburg area, it's a little over two miles. The run utilizes JMU's diverse turfs to adequately simulates a mountainous terrain.
